|Euglenids, phylum Euglenophyta, are excavate flagellates. Most are freshwater, but a few are marine. Most are unicellular with chloroplasts to produce food through photosynthesis. Some feed by phagocytosis or diffusion. None reproduce sexually. Euglenoids descended from an ancestor that took up green algae by secondary endosymbiosis.
